History In The Making

Phi Kappa Omega Chapter proudly launched its first book, The Essence of Phi Kappa Omega: The History of Alpha Kappa Alpha’s First Chapter Chartered in the New Millennium, at the Evergreen Park Library in Evergreen Park, Illinois, where Phi Kappa Omega Chapter was chartered. History and Archives Committee Chairman Soror Essie Mason-Purnell and Co-Chairman, Golden Soror Marianne Stallworth, began writing the chapter’s phenomenal years of service in 2020 to commemorate PKO’s 20th year anniversary. The committee also hosted a virtual book launch via Zoom to discuss each committee member’s role in creating the history book: writing, book cover illustration, editing, and marketing. Very special guest, Central Regional Director, Soror Sonya L. Bowen, was in attendance. Phi Kappa Omega Chapter’s history book is on display at the Evergreen Park Library and can be purchased at Amazon and Barnes and Noble. Congratulations Phenomenal PKO!
